Monastery of St. Clare
The monastery of St. Clare is occupied by a growing number of aging nuns. As a result, many portions of their facility, including activity areas and living quarters were inaccessible. Meyer & Meyer was comissioned to design a comprehensive solution for these issues. This included the addition of a new elevator tower, ADA upgrades in public areas and additional exterior improvements.
The new elevator tower was created as part of the cloister, connecting all levels and activities in the building. The first floor utilizes a historically detailed vestibule that functions as a day lit elevator lobby and connects the cloister to the building interior. The tower required thoughtful placement within the historic masonry building.
