Providence on Newbury

Four 1880s brick buildings designed by G. Wilton Lewis as single-family residences were combined and converted into a Jesuit boarding house in the 1920s. A developer purchased three of the buildings in 2005. Newly named "Provident on Newbury," and located in Boston’s historic Back Bay, buildings 292, 294, and 296 were renovated into mixed-use residential and retail condominiums.

Meyer & Meyer meticulously restored the building’s fine details and seamlessly integrated modern-day amenities, including 16 rear yard parking spaces to benefit the mixed-use developer. The property now features new retail stores in conjunction with landscape plantings, which define the center residential entry from adjacent commercial entries. The exterior features high-end materials, including Hungarian limestone curbs and stairs, a herringbone brick pattern, wrought iron fence, and a restored gable with sandstone and brick to match the adjacent 290 Newbury Street. Six new luxury residential condominiums are outfitted with oak floors, Carrera marble, and stainless steel gourmet kitchens. The building also features elevator access and a new interior lobby.
